Get to know Full Cycle with these top picks from Roni Size

Drum and Bass | Sunday 13th March 2016 | Arren

The Full Cycle party is fast approaching. Ahead of the date, Roni Size has given us the 5 Full Cycle records we should get to know.

Roni Size & Krust have resurrected their label, Full Cycle. Their first release in seven years, Formulate, dropped last week and their European tour has already begun. Full Cycle has also got billed for several festivals including Creamfields, BoomTown Fair and EDC UK.

The pair are on a mission to fight back against the formulated drum & bass sound and bring something fresh. Full Cycle will bring the breaks, melodies and rollers to a scene dominated by super technical records. On their tour they’ll be showing what they’re all about and offering a glimpse of what we can expect in the future.

Their tour sees them hit a number of European cities including Leeds, Berlin and here in London. They’ll be stopping at Village Underground on April 8. Not long to go, but in the meantime, Roni has shared with us the top 5 Full Cycle tracks that we should get to know.

Formulate

"This is a brand new old one that never had a full release but used to get played out a lot. This is what it used to be about, bass, breaks, synchronicity, hectic programming and it still sounds good in a dance."

Clipz - Cocoa

"One of those tracks that was ahead of its time. This one attracted a new audience to Full Cycle, it was pretty original sounding and was considered a bit of an anthem at the time. Some people used to call it Jump Up but we always used to call it Roll Out."

MC Tali - Lyric On My Lip

"This was a drum and bass track with we reckon the first female MC from New Zealand. It’s got that raw bass sound that was Full Cycle, and features Yuval Gabay (who was part of Reprezent) laying down the live drums and taking you on a journey."

DJ Die - Drop Bear

"This is classic DJ Die and still sounds so well produced it could have been made yesterday. It’s got that classic drum break and just rolls out perfectly. The bass is so important to the Full Cycle and ‘Bristol sound’ and it holds all the melody in the music."

Roni Size - Rock The Boat

"This is one that’s forthcoming on Full Cycle and is lined up as part of the second release on the label and is a perfect sign of things to come from the label…. You just have to stay tuned to hear this one…"
