The Mayor’s Thames Festival 2013

After a huge success, The Mayor’s Thames Festival will be back once again for 10-days filled with art, music and history for the celebration of London’s iconic river. The various events will take place both on the water and along its banks and bridges running from Friday 6th – Sunday 15th September 2013.
For the first time, the festival will extend beyond its usual concentrated weekend of riverside animations to a wider season of bespoke programming .Without a doubt, this year’s event will be bigger and better!
Events taking place this year will include:
- A night-time river opera
- Riverside screenings
- A 600-voice children’s choir
- Rally of Dunkirk Little Ships
- The Great River Race
- The Barge-Driving Race
- And first Thames Floating Art Fair (13th -15th September)
I personally am looking forward to the FloatArt fair! It would be a floating art exhibition on the River Thames for a selection of the country’s most current and inspirational BA and MA art graduates. The art will be created on board, at the Dixie Queen Paddleboat located by Tower Bridge. It is necessary for you to get on board early to be part of the new discovery this September!
