Braille Smartwatch Breaks Through For The Blind

Other | Tuesday 5th January 2016 | Tom

After Eric Ju Woon Kim, a student at Washington University, witnessed a blind classmate carrying around a heavy braille book he was astonished to find that no devices such as a braille iPhone had been invented, he then went about inventing one...

Eric Kim’s device is a smartwatch that has raising pins on it’s face, pins that create four braille characters at a time allowing the blind to read texts and other messages. The device is trickier to use regarding longer pieces of writing so his company ‘Dot Inc’ plan to create a ‘Dot Pad’ which will be released in 2017.
