Giggs // Chase & Status: Match Made In Heaven

You could be forgiven for thinking that Giggs had gone a bit quiet in recent months as the London grime scene experiences yet another of its artistic cycles. Make no mistake, the Peckham rapper is not yesterday's news, he may still be tomorrow's.
Yet it is hard to escape the feeling that - where once he was king of the castle (circa 2012) - Giggs has slipped down the grime premiership as newer and fresher sounds from the likes of Bugzy Malone, Lady Leshur, and Novelist have risen to the podium positions.
This huge production in collaboration with Chase & Status throws a spanner in the works of those haters hoping to write off SN1's biggest name. 'More Ratatatin' - taken from their London Bars Volume 2 is everything you'd expect and more from this match made in heaven.
Deep, head-nodding, thumpy bass synths provide the platform - Giggs's gravelly bars provide the performance. It's nothing revoluntionary; the ad libs and stabs are from the classic Giggs mould, and the video shows Chase & Status at their mysteriously 'normal-guys' best.
What is certain though, is that this is moving already. Expect a stream of remixes over this catchy instrumental between now and the new year. You'll be hearing more 'Ratatatin' than at a Pokemon convention.
