Sankeys splits with Darius Syrossian, Santé and Sidney Charles

House | Monday 13th April 2015 | Christina

Sankeys has severed all ties with Tribal Sessions resident Darius Syrossian after the DJ allegedly brought the brand into “disrepute”. What Syrossian has done has not been fully explained, but action appears to have been taken over his highlighting of issues at the club. In their statement regarding the split, Tribal Sessions said, “One thing we will say is VIVa MUSiC DJ Steve Lawler, BPM Festival, CUFF, Diynamic Music, The Martinez Brothers & of course Sankeys cannot all be wrong about this individual.” Clearly Tribal Sessions are not going to go easy on Syrossian.

It seems to have centred around Syrossian’s tweet, posted last week, which read, “I always said, if Sankeys continue to over sell tickets & then abuse + turn away fans who have travelled for miles, I’ll leave, simple as that!” Following Tribal Sessions’ announcement of the news, Syrossian then highlighted a tweet from Amine Edge, who plays at the CUFF night, in which he is abusive towards a clubber, showcasing what he believes to be hypocrisy on the part of Sankeys.

In an official statement, Syrossian has said “If Sankeys believe I intentionally brought the club into disrepute by highlighting the issues that are detrimental to it, then so be it”, before going on to wish Sankeys well. Santé and Sidney Charles have also declined to play at Sankeys Ibiza this summer in support of Syrossian, keeping it #BROSBEFOREEUROS. In a statement of their own, the pair have said, “We leave a fantastic crowd and a great club with a heavy heart, but we strongly value our friendship with Darius and prioritize it over everything else. He was the one who brought us into the fold, and ot wouldn’t feel right to play there without him, especially considering the circumstances surrounding his departure.” DJ Sneak and Hector Couto have also followed suit.

Syrossian has received lots of support on Twitter for sticking up for clubbers and keeping his focus on the music. Syrossian, along with Santé and Sidney Charles, has managed to emerge from this incident rather dignified. Yes, Syrossian is outspoken, but only in defence of the fans; as he posted on Facebook, “I have to stay true to myself, the people on the dance floor always come first for me, not money or status.”

Syrossian, Santé and Sidney Charles have committed to play all of their Road to Ibiza dates, and Tribal Sessions will still happen at Sankeys Ibiza this summer.
