Samsung announces Galaxy S4 Zoom, and it looks ridiculous

Wednesday 12th June 2013 | Hanjie

As if Samsung isn’t pushing out enough irrelevant models between their flagships, another spin-off of the Galaxy S4 has surfaced, and this time, it’s a phone-camera hybrid.

The announcement confirms recent rumours, and what we’re looking at is a device that looks like the Galasy S4 on one side and the Galaxy Camera on the other. Phone-wise, the specs are relatively run-of-the-mill, with a 4.3-inch qHD screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal memory with microSD support, and Android 4.2. The camera features are spiced up a bit, with a 16-megapixel camera with optical zoom and Xenon flash. The battery is 2330mAH, which should be big enough to last you through the day, unless you get snap happy with the camera.

Overall, great idea but horribly impractical. The addition of a proper camera means the phone is much bulkier and heavier than other flagships. Also, talking into a camera will probably get you more weird looks on the street than wearing Google Glasses.
