GHOSTPOET @ Village Underground

When Ghostpoet graces the stage of such a beautiful venue, you expect to mong out a little bit, you expect some kind of mellow, deep atmosphere.
Instead, there was the atmosphere of a Napalm Death show, this guy was almost blowing the speakers.
Coming on dressed in all black, with a full band and a vocal loop machine being used in every single song, the crowd were going crazy. He jumped straight into his older album 'Peanut Butter Blues & Mellancholy Jam', kicking off with 'Gasssp.
The atmosphere was crazy, as I have said - But you don't expect this from Ghostpoet. You wouldn't want to go see Snoop Dogg without him nor you being stoned, and a huge amount of 'chillin'...
Ghostpoet played a very tight, well thought out show, but the excitement of a night of slurred words and lots of calm vibes turned into a bad trip on Oxford Circus.
As for the venue, £2 for a can of Coke, and plain clothes glass collectors making me very concious of my bag's contents made this a very awkward, unfullfilling night.
However, the DJ was absolutely incredible and the support act 'Typesun' made the build up for Ghostpoet so climaxing that he was bound to anti climax my expectations.
All in all, a good evening of good musicians, pick a safer feel to a veune and a different vibe and you've made this critic happy.
