Indie/Hip Hop – Capital Cities Feat. Andre 3000!
Tuesday 4th June 2013 | Alex
Capital Cities are our ‘Artist of the Month’, read about that here. But this deserved another mention.
The indie-pop duo debut ‘In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery’ today – June 4, and Andre 3000’s on there.
‘Farrah Fawcett Hair’ is marked with Three Stacks’ footprints, it radiates expansive funk but with bursts of 50s sax (very ‘The Love Below’) and there’s even a ‘Synthesiser’ robot voice that’s a bit more human than we’re used to – its National Public Radio’s Frank Tavares.
It’s like a video game, that level (probably in space) with the eerie light and sparse backing music that doesn’t want you to get too comfortable. The poppy start’s a bit misleading – 'Farrah Fawcett Hair' wrenches you through super feisty soul and clamorous crescendo overloads. Check it out below.
