The Beaches
What do you prefer?
Barcelona has a varied landscape with mountains on one side and coast on the other. Barca has 4.5km of incredible and contrasting coastline, and (besides the city) Barca's 7 beaches are its biggest tourist attraction. For example, Barcaloneta is close to the city and is hugley popular among young people, boasting a world-renowned ice bar. On other hand, Nova Icaria is more family-orientated. Known for its perfect sand, Mar Balla is also a popular choice. Whatever mood you're in, there's a beach for you!
Weather
It’s hot whenever you go!
Barcelona is on a great part of Spain called Costa Brava, which is permanently boiling! The average temperature in winter months is 14 degrees and it can hit 30 in August! While a lot of people prefer visitng between May and July, Barca's various personalities can be found in winter, too.
Food
Sea food, rice, and sea food again.
Like most Mediterranean countries, sea food is a huge part of Catalonia’s menu. One of the famous dishes is arros negre - made with cuttlefish (or squid) and rice, it's got a startling colour. A definite must-try is paella, a quintessential Spanish dish. White rice, green vegetables, meat, sea food, rice and seasoning create this classic dish. When it comes to drinks you've gotta give sangria a go, which is made freshly in most of Barca's bars. There's wine, fruit, sweener and brandy in there - crazy!
Architecture
A city that never sleeps.
Barcelona is a “city that never sleeps”. The sun's up late so most of the time tourists party on the beach 'til late, then move into the city. The city isn't alive until late! Another reason why it is often empty in the clubs early on is that people in Spain like to eat late. In Barcelona you can find clubs, bars, and parties all over the city and most of the time you spend the night boucning from place to place. While walking the streets at night you can make the most of deals - everyone's handing out flyers for free drinks and club entry. You're pushed into finding the best deals.
Architecture
Unique city of Gaudi
Many Catalonians see Barcalona as Gaudi’s city - a lot of architecture owes its beauty to this extravagent man. His buildings are one of a kind, completely unique and utterly breath taking. The most famous building is Sagrade Familia Cathedra, which was begun in the 60s and isn't finished 50 years on! Completion is on the cards, but rumour has it the world will end when it's done! Another place worth seeing is the Magic Fountains, which are located in the city center. The synchornized colours are an incredible sight night. Basically, you need to check it out.
