Top 5 Bands to watch in 2013

Tuesday 9th April 2013 | michael

Temples

Fresh from touring with Britpop rockers Suede, the four piece stole the show. They’ll be playing on the same bill as the Rolling Stones at Barclaycard British Summer Time. They blend The Beatles Sgt Pepper and Revolver albums with a fuzzy guitar sound that wouldn’t look out of place on a Led Zeppelin record. Catchy choruses and dreamy verses are a throwback to the summer of '69.

Wet Nuns

Big, fast and heavy encapsulates what Wet Nuns are all about. For a 2 piece the racket they make is only a dream for some wannabe rockers.  Based in Sheffield they sound like something from the 90’s desert rock scene, playing alongside Kyuss or Fu Mancu.  They have a melodic side demonstrated in why you so cold? Sounding like an Ennio Morroconie nightmare. Having played Reading and Leeds and organising their own festival they are definitely going to be a band to watch in 2013.

Dexters

The London five piece have already got massive exposure being played at the end credits of England vs Brazil and that was there first single. They have a punk attitude that made the Pistols so great and the tunes to back it up. Energetic indie pop anthems that make you stand up and take notice making the calmest want to jump around like mad man.

Savages

London based all girl band that that could burn out the sun with their tunes.  Joy Division inspired bass lines and Jenny Beth (lead vocalist) assimilates a Ian Curtis-esque figure. They have heavy energetic riffs and catchy hooks under the darkness. With their album release upon us it’s bound to be brilliant.

Deap Vally

Rock and Roll princesses Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards are in a different league. Big riffs and howling vocals brimming with sexuality. Their live shows are immense which usually involves very little clothing. There forthcoming E.P titled Get Deap is sure to be amazing, imagine the black keys as women and that’s Deap Vally.
