MET Gala to celebrate PUNK with Beyonce!
Monday 8th April 2013 | Serena
As a fashionista with a passion for celebrities, the Costume Institute Gala is probably the red carpet that I wait the most during the year.
Actress, singer, models, socialites gather together in New York showing off fabulous dresses, daring without much thought, pulling arm in arm with the designer who created what they wear ... in short, a dream for professionals in fashion, who'll tweet live like crazy their impressions of the outfits.
The night is born to celebrate the opening of the annual exhibition and this year the council will show “Punk: Chaos to Couture” , and as honorary guest of the night there will be some personality as co-chairs : already announced Rooney Mara, Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, Lauren Santo Domingo and Vogue editor in chief and Condé Nast artistic director Anna Wintour . But the news is that has just been added to the board not other than … Beyonce! Yes, she's coming back in a big way: she's literally all over the places. But the question that many people are doing is: what is the connection between the singer and the punk movement? None. But we will see how she'll help, sure she is a woman full of resources, and she will be able to make her mark on this adventure too.
About "Punk : Chaos to Couture", the press has been already invited to have a sneak peek of the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum and there will be for sure 14 looks by the likes of Chanel, Versace, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. Andrew Bolton , curator of the exhibition, told to WWD that it will be both a sequel and a prequel to the Met's "AngloMania : Tradition and Transgression in British Fashion" show. “Rather than look at punk as an attitude, it will look at punk as an aesthetic,” added Andrew Bolton.
Waiting for the 6th of May for the Gala, here's a video about the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" in 2011.
