Jimi Hendrix Pop-Up Store To Open In April
Wednesday 20th March 2013 | Adam
A Limited Experience
As a lifelong Hendrix admirer, it comforts me that his name will not vanish from popular culture any time soon and that it will be remembered particularly strongly in the city of London which he loved so much. In the heart of where Hendrix first began his career in earnest, not far from Ronnie Scott’s and the Marquee, is 8 Ganton Street.
To coincide with the posthumous release of People, Hell and Angels, the building will be opening its doors to Hendrix aficionados and selling limited edition merchandise, providing Fender ‘Plug & Play’ guitar sessions and showcasing a Jimi Hendrix photo exhibition by Gered Mankowitz from April 1st until April 12th.
The shop will also host special appearances from Hendrix’s sister Janie Hendrix on 1st April, who will be signing copies of the new book Jimi Hendrix: The Ultimate Lyric Book and rock photographer Gered Mankowitz on the 6th April, who took the photograph used for the album cover of People, Hell and Angels.
The album itself is already on sale, but limited edition LPs, CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays will be sold at the exhibition, as will the entire Hendrix catalogue. Fans who desire an interactive window into the Hendrix legacy would do well not to miss it.
The Jimi Hendrix Pop-Up Store will be open from Monday April 1st to Friday April 12th, located at 8 Ganton Street, London, W1F 7QP.Opening times 12pm-8pm Monday to Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday.
Janie L. Hendrix will be appearing on April 1st from 4-6pm
Gered Mankowitz will be appearing on April 6th from 3-6pm
People, Hell, and Angels is available now.
