Full Figured Fashion Week. Wait. WHAT?!

Today is the very last day of London Fashion Week A/W2013. Yes, it all has been indeed exciting. Everyone had massive expectations of Riri’s Fashion line for River Island and our eyes had been seeking for the one and only, long-legged Brit- Cara Delevingne. All fashionistas extraordinaires had showed off their feathers and attracted tons of attention- not only in Central London, but also internationally. Let’s be honest, the whole world had been watching and so had been you!
Then think again. What is the visual representation that we are being shown? What body image is perpetuating our subconscious minds? That’s right. All attractive, bony beauties used as cloth-hangers that brainwash a mass audience. The cliché body image presented to us via television and advertising modifies a perception we generate about beauty.
No one really desires to have chubby models to be presenting their fashion lines. The high fashion will never merge with the ordinary. One thing is for sure, if every single one of us could do it (looking dead-anorexic by their appearance), the look would not be desired by those in power of fashion heavens.
There is a little exception that proves the rule: Full Figure Fashion Week (FFF Week) created by Gwen DeVoe. The execute producer of DeVoe Signature Events is going to run the fifth year of this interesting event, taking place in New York City from 17th until 22nd June, 2013.
There is a huge support coming from its ‘fat’ audience. The show is lively, energetic and full of positive vibes, what naturally attracts more media coverage. FFF Week is all about celebrating all body shapes and types. Unfortunately, you will not find much of a 'high' fashion in there. Also, do not be surprised by a couple of extremely outstanding, whacky designs.
There is a reason why FFF Week gains popularity each year: being curvy and confident about it, does not necessarily mean you can’t be glamorous. Women of all sizes want to have killer clothes.
Yet, it is not just another fashion week. The uniqueness is striking. At FFF Week real women wear clothes and not vice versa.
