Asian influences rock NY Fashion Week

Fashion is constantly evolving, trends are always changing, and designers are always creating new pieces. One constant is that us fashion-lovers are always looking for the next big look, and February is our chance to find them.

New York Fashion week is up and running, and we plan to keep you updated on what’s being shown to make sure you know what to start looking for when buying your new Winter wardrobe. Yesterday brought us 13 shows that all started with monochrome, top heavy, knitted, and leather looks while designers like Kenneth Cole featured gorgeous prints, and looks from Nicholas K kept a clean and simple feel amongst the entire collection. Keeping it girly and flirty, Tadashi Shoji showed beautiful dresses (short and long) amongst his line and brought life to the runway with bright red pieces in his collection.

An exciting part of the day was the Concept Korea project, where five designers were chosen to bring Asian influences to the NY runway. The successful collections stood out as they brought looks with influences of graffiti, contrast, and nature. The favourite amongst the designers was Kathleen Kye, 26, who has already grabbed attention from retailers like Harvey Nichols in London. Being inspired by the unemployed youth in Korea, the Kye collection brought fun and edge to the show with coats, unisex tops, and even shoes.

You can expect updates on the shows throughout the week from us and a full review towards the end. The runway has already provided fresh and new looks for Fall/Winter and is definitely going to bring more that we are looking forward to.
