Mala Rodriguez @ Village Underground 18th April
Wednesday 6th February 2013 | Harry
Hip hop enthusiasts, remember this date. Mala Rodriguez, one of the most popular artists in Latin hip hop is in London for an extremely rare appearance at Village Underground. Mala has a string of awards to her name including a Latin Grammy, which she won for Best Song ‘No Pidas Perdon’ off her latest album ‘Dirty Bailarina.’ She was also nominated for best album for the effort. On top of that she has recorded numerous important collaborations with artists like Calle 13, and more recently Nelly Furtado on the song ‘Bajo Otra Luz.’ Her hip hop is greatly influenced by flamenco music and she often discusses issues such as poverty, racism, domestic violence and female empowerment. This will be an amazing show, unlike any other which you are likely to witness in London and it is her only UK gig which is scheduled. If you miss out this time there’s no telling when you’ll be able to see her again.
