Top 5 Reasons to Visit:
ADVENTURE
Brazil covers nearly half of South America, and is by far the continent’s largest nation. Therefore its widespread flora and fauna entices many people to discover the country. Whether it is hitchhiking in the mountains or the south of the country, visiting small villages in the Amazonas area, or lying on the beach and partying in one of the bigger cities, Brazil has a lot to offer! By day we recommend seeing the world famous modern buildings such as the Teatro Amazonas and by night venturing out and exploring the exquisite nightlife, at the many bars and parties.
BEACH
The cities at the beach are a must see, with each one offering different activities. Some are perfect for diving, while others cater to surfers with strong waves! Although they are consistently popular, they are especially so during the carnival season. Carnivals are celebrated all over Brazil, but the biggest and most famous one takes place in Rio. The carnival attracts thousands of people from all over the world and is a celebration that lasts four days. It is certainly a spectacle you ought to see at least once in your life. The costumes, music, and dancing are only some of the experiences you will never forget!
PARTY
A highlight this year is the Circo Loco tour. Circo Loco is a clubbing brand from Ibiza founded over a decade ago. In January 2013 they dared to cross the Atlantic and will delight cities like Bahia, Sao Paulo and Rio with their outstanding vibe. Starting in the north, they will move south in February joining the carnival festive in Rio and later in March going on to São Paulo. The events are taking place in fantastic locations with big musicians like DJ Sneak, Maceo Plexfor, DJ W!LD, and Cassy. So break out of that comfort zone and travel far and wide!
FOOD
White rice, black beans, and flour is what you will most likely be eating during your adventurous trip to Brazil as the three ingredients are used in most dishes in different ways to bring a cultural taste to all meals. You’ll probably be on the move constantly though, which is why we recommend lanchonetes! These cafe like bars offer you quick food while maintaining the cultural taste to offer you Brazil on the go. Whether you decide to take your time or have a quick meal, don’t be shy to try everything you can, from Barreado to Caruru!
CULTURE
With a population of 190 million, Brazil is known as a melting pot of culture as people from all over the world make up the country’s background. No matter where you are from, fitting in is a breeze as a friendly mentality is shared amongst the people. Culture is also apparent in the beaches, villages, and historic buildings, meaning you can look forward to new experiences and making friends while having them!

WHERE TO EAT
If you travel on a low budget it is very easy to find good food in Brazil. You can eat fresh food from a street vendor or visit the small snack bars, where they not only sell fresh made fruit juices but also low price sandwiches. Be aware that big portions in restaurants are normal and are plenty enough for two people. One more tip: stick with traditional Brazilian food, it will always come cheaper.
HOW TO GET AROUND
The best and cheapest way to travel around Brazil is with the bus. This way you can also see the big variety of flora and fauna in Brazil. The good adapted bus system brings you to all the big cities or small villages. Of course if you stay in one city, using a taxi or the underground is another option. However the best way to explore the cities and see all the sights is by walking.
ISLANDS
If you want to escape the typical tourist trails, go and spend some days on an island.
Ilha de Boipeba: Even though going to this island takes a 30 min flight from Salvador, it is an amazing place. You can even call it “paradise on earth”.
Ilha de Marajo: This island amazes with the big variety of animals. You can not only find hundreds of different tropical birds, but also water buffaloes, if you are lucky
Ilha Grande: The island is close to Rio de Janeiro. With its beautiful beaches and cheap little hotels it´s the perfect place to relax.
WHEN TO GO TO BRAZIL
Because of the strong tourism, especially during New Year´s and Carnival, hotel prices can triple and it doesn't help booking in advance. Also, you shouldn't go between April and July as the city experiences a heavy rain period.
If you are in Brazil between December and March you should plan your day trips to the cities on the weekends, when everybody is off to the beach, then take advantage of the weekdays to relax on the now empty wide spread sands. The best time to visit the country is in September or October because of the warm weather we all crave!
