Spotlight On...Fulbert
Thursday 29th November 2012 | Chloe
With his modern, New Jersey style house vibes, and a recent remix for Benedict, (one half of Manchester based duo Tomson & Benedict) this talented young DJ/Producer is fast becoming a hot name on the scene.
Fulbert, (Timothee Victorri) now based in Seoul, Korea, grew up in Paris listening to 70's soul, jazz and rare groove. Into his teens as his taste matured, he started to entrench himself in Detroit and Chicago house of the 88-94 era. During this period he became very heavily influenced by the Paradise Garage sound, thus developing his signature, groovy, percussive traits. Often bringing us those lovely warm, placid chords, full of nostalgia, reminiscent of those hand in the air moments we all love to get excited about!
After having a successful debut release on Local Talk, named 'Garden State 92 EP' in 2011, Fulbert was noticed by Tomson & Benedict who asked him to remix Benedict's track 'Why Don't You Finish With Me' on their fresh imprint, we_ctrl.
Released in September, Fulbert's '588' remix takes us a on a lively, deep journey, really embracing the vocals inherited from retro erotica, looped on top of some punchy drums and rolling into a wicked drop of melodic, undulating piano chords.
Fulbert isn't falling into a category of producers that are writing music because it's on trend, he's all about a deep rooted, heartfelt love of house...I can't wait to hear more from this talented guy!
