Relentless Energy Drink put on an intimate Hackney gig for Professor Green last Thursday, filling St. John's Church with over 1,000 dedicated disciples
The venue was looking incredible as I arrived; hoards of fans were gathered under the bright lights of the beautiful building and the Relentless logo had been projected across the sides like a beacon. Warming the chilly crowd up came courtesy of Rascals, a group of youngsters who had no problem pumping the room up with their infectious energy.
DJ IQ (who I had heard great things about but never seen live), was truly sick. Dropping anything and everything into the mix, he was the perfect jump-up introduction to the man himself.
Armed with a bottle of Jack Daniels for mid-set refreshment, Green told the room how excited he was to be playing his final UK show of the year and "It feels f***ing weird playing in a church, no disrespect!" Playing a mixture of old and new, 'Jungle' was a definite highlight; the homage to his East London roots. With a super impressive light display, amazing backing vocals and Pro's relentless onstage energy, the show closed with the poignant 'Read All About It.'
Thanking the church by presenting them with a brand new loop sound system, this special event was a great opportunity for fans to witness the rapper in his element.
