Trent Reznor responds to his Call of Duty
Tuesday 13th November 2012 | David
The Nine Inch Nails frontman has debuted his theme tune for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’.
I’m not sure how Trent Reznor is able to balance out his several projects, but he must have some epic time management abilities. Between writing film scores and keeping up with his bands Nine Inch Nails and How To Destroy Angels, it’s a wonder he has time for anything else, but his workload hasn’t stopped him from penning a theme for the latest instalment of the Call of Duty franchise.
The music is typical Nine Inch Nails: heavy on the guitars, vaulting and epic in places, slow overall and verging on the apocalyptic. It’s sure to gel very well with the game, which is released today. Whether the instrumental track will help put Halo 4’s incredibly successful soundtrack in its place is unclear, but the song is certainly tailor-made for slow motion grenade throwing and cut-scenes of headshots.
Having competed the scores for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network, Reznor’s side project How To destroy Angels have signed to major record label Columbia and are set to release their latest EP, An Omen, very soon. A full length album is expected in 2013, whilst Nine Inch Nails also have material in the works. It’s a wonder Reznor hasn’t had a work-induced meltdown, but then again, he’s never been one to hold back from producing quality music as often as possible.
In the meantime, check out his theme for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ below.
