Get on this...Dr. Meaker
Friday 9th November 2012 | Jenny
It's Friday! Here's a little something to make sure you check out to kickstart your weekend.
Bristol collective Dr. Meaker have created an electric drum and bass anthem that has grabbed the attention of the likes of Zane Lowe, DJ Hype and Toddla T to name but a few.
Starting out back in 2004, Clive Meaker (producer, keyboard and vocals) was the winner of BBC'S Urban Talent Bursary which led to the creation of their debut album 'A Lesson from the Speaker.' Following on from this, the group won the Dance Music Catergory at Glastonbury Unsigned, with boss Michael Eavis calling them "fantastic". Praise indeed.
The band have since gone on to release 3 singles and turn their capable hands to remixing. Their second album is to be released next year and you may have already caught them at a festival; they have delivered thrilling sets at Isle of Wight, Boomtown and Beautiful Days.
'Fighter' is out on celebrated V Recordings and 1xtra's Sarah Jane Crawford made it 'Smash' of the week. Full of attention grabbing bass and powerhouse vocals from Lorna King, there are already a number of remixes of it to check out as well.
