Blink-182 looking to save this years’ music
Tuesday 16th October 2012 | David
A year after their comeback album Neighborhoods, Blink-182 are writing their next record, speculated to hit shelves and pirate websites sometime next year.
Bassist Mark Hoppus confirmed that the new album was in the making, although fans will have to be patient. With an Australian tour coming up in February, their proposed seventh studio album and accompanying tour “won’t happen for about a year”, according to Hoppus.
He also stated that he hoped the album would reverse the lack of “great new music” to come out this summer. Hoppus clearly hasn’t been all that enamoured by releases of late, saying that “I've kind of been in a dead-zone lately... I feel like this summer was kind of devoid of a lot of great new music. The new Matt & Kim album is coming out, I'm excited about that, the Mumford and Sons album I like... but, yeah, other than that it's been kind of a dry summer.”
Having slated this summers’ musical offerings so universally, Blink-182 have a lot to live up to. Fans are hopeful, and drummer Travis Barker believes that the band can make it happen, stating that “I feel like the best is yet to come, the next album is going to be exciting.”
