This week sees the release of this band’s debut album. Although the group have some splendid EPs behind them, All our Favourite Songs is their first full length album. The first single from this album, 'Talk Through the Night', has been released today and met with great reviews from the mad people who comment on youtube videos. Although this song isn't strictly unlikable it does seem to miss a certain je ne sais quoi found in their other tracks. If this is an indication for the album then perhaps I would be safer with my now over spotified EP’s and beautifully chipper 'Glockenspiel Song' or the Noah and the Whale reminiscent 'Two Devils'. For something interesting go for the 'Two Devils' Bombay Bicycle Club remix.
I feel like this band is building up to something. It’s as if they are constructing a giant Duplo tower and are yet to reach the ceiling and top it off with the man (for those of you unaware of Duplo, I’m sorry for your wasted childhood). Forming in 2008 the boys have supported the likes of One Night Only, OK Go and Cajun Dance Party and performed at countless festivals. I hope this album is the real breakthrough this band needs; rather than staying an undoubtedly talented background band, these self-professed “uplifting pop for jazz junkies and choir folk,” sounds need to grace more ears.
So I wait in pure anticipation for this possibly make or break album to rocket this folk/indie pentagon into the spotlight. The album is released on the 8th of this month, until then here is the boys' new single.
