Disaster strikes London based designer at Paris Fashion Week
Wednesday 3rd October 2012 | Ramya
Paris fashion week is the golden opportunity for all designers to showcase their best pieces to the entire fashion community of the world. However, for the London-based, Turkish-born, designer Hakaan Yildirim, this dream turned into a nightmare.
Hakaan, who is a firm favourite amongst Hollywood elite for his feminine-yet-contemporary red carpet glamour, was extremely disappointed when his entire collection was lost. The designer was set to showcase his spring/summer 2013 collection to the fashion world, when it was discovered that a courier company had lost all the clothes.
With invitations to the show sent out and no clothes to show, the PR company Karla Otto were required to send out emails to all those who were invited to alert them that the preview was now cancelled.
The talented Turkish designer, who won the Young Fashion Designer Prize at Istanbul’s Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations whilst he was still at university, is not the first designer who has lost his clothes before a major runway show.
Marc Jacobs was forced to cancel his show last November after his 46 piece collection was stolen from a train travelling from Paris to London. Therefore, like Marc Jacobs, Haaken was forced to cancel his show. Luckily, Haakan now has the chance to re-make his signature pieces for spring/summer 2013, which will be showcased later this week for a small number of press and fashion’s best.
