A must hear from Solange Knowles

Solange releases a chilled video for her latest song ‘Losing You’.
Solange Knowles, the younger of the Knowles sisters, has unfortunately not had as much recognition as she deserves. However, she has a new song out with a new sound courtesy of Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes. The song follows her 2008 album Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams which was underrated by a long stretch.
With a chilled-out tempo but dominant beat in the mix, the song is very different to the commercial R&B that her sister produces. It is equally enjoyable and the video, shot by Melina Matsoukas, fits nicely into the rhythm of the song: we see Solange chilling out with her friends in Cape Town, having a laugh.
“When Melina and I decided to film ‘Losing You’ in South Africa, we really didn’t have a real firm concept in place,” Solange explains. “It was sort of a grab a camera and let’s go moment. I knew I wanted to capture a couple of things: the vibe of our friendship and all of the crazy escapades we’re gotten ourselves into all over the world.”
This has definitely been accomplished: you cannot help but connect to the video of people having a laugh, reminding us of lazy days in the sun. Why not reminisce on your summer with her track below:
