Substance celebrates its sixth birthday
Tuesday 2nd October 2012 | Amy
One of the most prominent nights in Edinburgh for house music celebrates its birthday this Friday.
London is known for new artists, talent and the place to get your foot in the door. However, many other cities promote new talent just as well. Edinburgh has become central to rising artists due to the successful Festival Fringe which is held every summer.
Though, throughout the rest of the year, it continues to be an arts hub and not just for the mainstream. Substance, a night dedicated to house, techno and bass music, is celebrating its sixth birthday this Friday at The Bongo Club in Edinburgh.
The night has been at the forefront of house music since it launched in 2006, having hosted everyone from Luke Vibert to Boddika to Jeff Mills over the years. On Friday, however, Substance has booked two of the most present artists for a back to back set. Taking the stage will be Blawan, the producer behind the ‘His He She & She’ (also known as 'Why they hide their bodies under my garage') EP and Numbers resident Jackmaster. To top the night off, they will be sharing the bill with none other than Substance’s Gavin Richardson.
Tickets for Substance’s birthday are available from Resident Advisor.
