But I Can’t Help Falling In Love With Your Soiled Underwear

A British collector of Elvis Presley memorabilia held an auction over the weekend to sell many of his prized possessions. The winning piece was a Bible that belonged to Presley and was used to inscribe thoughts and annotations of his own during the period of ownership. It sold for over double the expected price at a whopping £59,000.The lucky obtainer of the Bible preferred to remain anonymous and went through the battle of ownership over the phone.
There were many other objects for sale in the auction including shoes, cufflinks and jewellery but perhaps the most curious item, was a pair of framed, soiled, unwashed underwear. Presley originally wore them underneath that famous white suit at a concert in 1977. Now, the pants did not sell, as the intended price of £7,000 was not reached. It does remain inexplicable however, how there was someone in the crowd, whilst not willing to pay asking price, offered a sum of £5,000 to own the deceased singer’s dirty laundry.
