Lana Del Rey models her retro-barbie-chic for H&M

A marketing wonder that everyone wants a piece of.
It is most interesting how Lana Del Rey hit a nerve in pop culture when she came out of nowhere last year. Not only her music but her whole appearance is unique, like a perfectly shaped pop phenomenon created for the underground as well as for the craving masses. A sheer marketing hit, retro in her somewhat artificial looks and clothing and so up to date in her music where hip hop beats meet melancholic pop and indie. Everyone seemed to be talking about her and the album was expected with an almost unhealthy aspiration. It is no surprise that this woman's influence would soon attract other branches. She has already been on Vogue in March and now H&M has her modeling a campaign. The clothes match the singer's style perfectly: a lot of pastel, ribbon and peplum. And then there's the typical Lana Del Rey snoot, frozen on basically every picture. But hasn't it worked brilliantly so far? Well, there you go.
