Dreams really do come true! Builder and decorator Michael Armstrong was fitting a kitchen for a top record label head, when she heard him singing and signed him on the spot.
Record label heavyweight Lisa Davies signed Michael up to Upbeat Synergy and says the builder and father-of-three will be a huge star. The record label is based in L.A. but the company handles the PR, marketing, event planning and development of bands and artists.
Davies explained that amateur singer-songwriter Michael Armstrong could be as big as Robbie Williams and has an ‘outstanding voice’. She also represents Sir Cliff Richard and The Hollies, and has worked with Michael Jackson, ‘he can sing absolutely anything!” she said.
Michael Armstrong said it was complete chance that he was working on Lisa’s kitchen, after struggling to get his music heard for over 20 years, “ I never quite got my break but it finally came and I am delighted.” he said.
The 38-year-old builder from Surrey said that he brought Davies his demo CD the following day and asked her to give it a listen. He’s been “bowled over” by the experience and juggling his day job and launching his music career.
Lisa Davies listened to Armstrong’s voice with her husband and they both realised he was something special! She’s already been in the business for about 3o years and says it’s a shame Michael wasn’t discovered earlier. She’s ecstatic to have snapped him up though! “In a few weeks his music will be available in every corner of the world, it’s so exciting for a normal guy who was just going around doing his job with an extraordinary talent.”
And you don’t have to wait too long to hear what the fuss is all about, Michael Armstrong’s debut EP with be available from the 9th of July.
