When people think of books, they think boring, so many words put together to create extremely long sentences that make up chunky paragraphs! Ever thought of an alternative way to gettin involved in literature? Music is the answer!
Music is a vital part of your life and sometimes what gives the lyrics more meaning than just words on a page is the success story behind the singer. Artists like Drake sing of their accomplishments and all they had to tackle to get to where they are. Have a listen and a read of the lyrics for ‘Headlines’ and ‘Look What You’ve Done’. The songs are like a biography in themselves.
Some artists do not have a book telling you all about their life; instead they express themselves through their lyrics! It might even come easily to you, try and write a song about something you’ve experienced and sing it (if you can’t sing, don’t even try to torture your shower head!). It’s not only a way to express your thoughts but also to get it all out of your mind. You never know, you might realise that you’re a great lyrical artist and find a new calling in life!
It’s great that a few artists talk about their own experiences through their songs because this way they don’t need to release any books about their life or what they’ve gone through. Even if they do, the internet already provides us with all the info we may need. There are some writers who try to expose as many details of an artist’s life as possible. Although, the problem with this is that they don’t know the singer/songwriter personally and of course won’t give us the full picture and details we want!
To be honest, if someone goes on about how you need to read and wants you to be more academic… you can respond with simply blasting the music and mentioning something about lyrics and words making up sentences and paragraphs!
