Jay- Z Is ‘Like Shakespeare’

Jay- Z and Will.i.am have been compared to British playwright William Shakespeare.
They are best known for their hip hop beats and slick lyrics, but they have been compared to the famous poet by Michael Boyd, artistic director of The Royal Shakespeare Company.
He said the closest to Shakespeare in contemporary times are rappers.
“They use that extraordinary quick fire, highly organised, very witty metrical rhyming language which is brilliant in terms of consciously addressing the whole of society.”
He said that Jay Z is in direct contact with his audience and this is what makes him so powerful and influential.
