The former Popstars judge is claiming that not only did he influence RhiRhi but the Hit Factory is where dubstep really started! According to Pete, the style of music he made famous through the likes of Steps and Kylie has died out because people are “too violent” to have fun. He went on to say that “everybody wants to get pissed and violent when they go out, What we did with bands like Steps is have a laugh. I think we’ve lost that.”
On speaking about the Hit Factory, Pete claims that he is able to listen to records by Rihanna as he can hear all the Factory songs in there, he can hear the influence and quirkiness. “You know the Hit Factory started drum and bass, and dubstep, we were doing those sounds years ago. Now Sub Focus and Chase & Status all come here to make their records”.
