Last week played host to the inaugural outing of London’s new alternative night out Furious Styles TV. The brainchild of comedian Doc Brown and DJ Tayo Popoola, Furious Styles aims to take the audience on a visual celebration of black culture. The first event paid tribute to the late Don Cornelius, creator of the legendary US show Soul Train, showcasing some of the finest funk and soul performances from the vault. Moving between Doc Brown’s informed anecdotes and rare video footage including a James Brown duet with Michael Jackson, Furious Styles proved to be a great way to unwind on a Monday night, enjoying a couple of drinks and being shown something you wouldn’t have known to look for.
