Lana Del Rey Surprised

Believing she's neither “a controversial or polarising person”, Lana Del Rey is surprised by the attention her rise to stardom is getting. Speaking to LA radio station KROQ, she said that the rumours circulating on the internet were not true and that she didn’t quite understand why she was a magnet for controversy. She said that what she sings about is quite balanced and so “the really amazing things and the really terrible things, none of them are true."
Writing since she was seven years old, Del Rey told the station that she has written every word on her album apart from two lines, one in the song Diet Mountain Dew and one in Lolita. She stated that she’s aware that the internet is creating its own person to play with. The artist who only cares to portray her life through documenting it in a musical fashion, doesn’t compromise and never says “anything just to rhyme over sugary pop songs”.
This is perhaps why she is gaining such a huge following. Her debut album Born To Die has sold over 900,000 copies since its release and she has written so much that she has three albums worth of music for a potentially successful follow- up.
