George Harrison Would Have Celebrated His 69th year!

The youngest Beatle would have been celebrating his birthday this weekend. Born on February 25th 1943, he was 8 months younger than Paul McCartney and 2 years younger than John Lennon and Ringo Starr.
In the Beatles his songs were low priority, thanks to Lennon and McCartney, but in any other band he would have been the star.
In 1994 George talked about the frustrations of the songwriting ranking within the legendary band. He said it was ‘frustrating at times when we had to wade through millions of ‘Maxwell’s Silver Hammer’s’ before we could get to one of mine, you know. ‘ He said that retrospectively, there were a couple of his tunes good enough, and maybe even better than ones that Paul and John had written occasionally. However there wasn’t much bad feeling ‘That’s how it was. It doesn’t bother me really, I was just on hold for a while.’
Nowadays, George’s Beatle songs are often citied as some of the group’s best moments. This includes rock classics like ‘Here Comes The Sun’, ‘Something’, ‘While My Guitar Weeps’ and ‘Taxman.’
His solo album ‘All Things Must Pass’ is one of rock’s greatest recorded moments, with songs like ‘My Sweet Lord’, ‘What If Life’, ‘Beware Of Darkness’ and Isn’t It A Pity.’
Happy Birthday George Harrison!
