Boy, 5, Lives Life As A Girl!

Monday 20th February 2012 | Osh

He has become one of the youngest ever to be diagnosed on the NHS with ‘Gender Identity Disorder.’  Zach Avery refused to live as a boy when he was just three and now wears his hair in pigtails and a tutu.  Also the primary school which he attends has renamed the toilets as ‘unisex.’

He has long blonde hair and wears ribbons and pink dresses.  He has an obsession with Dora the Explorer, a children’s programme aimed at girls.

Parents Theresa, 32 and Darren Avery, 41, took Zach to the doctors after they became worried about his behaviour.

His mother said that at first he was like a ‘normal’ little boy who loved Thomas the Tank Engine but then he suddenly started behaving like a girl at the end of 2010.

He used to get frustrated when people referred to him as a boy and even told her ‘mummy I’m a girl’ when he was three.

Mrs Avery said that specialists said although he has a male’s body his brain was telling him he’s a girl.

Gender Identity Disorder is a conflict between a person’s actual physical gender and the gender that person identifies himself or herself as.
