‘You Have To Accept The Romance Is Over’

A lovesick elderly man of 82 was ordered to stop bothering the ex- girlfriend who jilted him.
Pensioner and great grandad Donald Hird pestered 57 year old Mavis Pike to take him back. He sent her a bundle of cards after she gained a restraining order. She is fed up of him controlling her life and worried he might show up at her house. District Judge Andrew Shaw told him at Flintshire Magistrates Court that he needs to realise that the relationship is no more. Ex- publican Hird of North Wales asked ‘Will I ever be able to see her again?’
He got a 12 month community order on Valentine’s Day but said ‘I loved her so much. She was precious.’
