Content Blocked from Google and Facebook in India

Google and Facebook have begun to filter the content that is available to users in India. This comes after a ruling that means companies are responsible for content put up by users and a warning that India could go the same route as China if not implemented. The ruling means that companies such as Google are responsible for blocking any content that would be deemed as offensive to people’s religious beliefs. They are having to implement a mechanism that would help them control content put on their sites. This is a significant ruling considering that India is the largest democratic nation and now is such an important time for the defining of internet censorship law.
