Jean Paul Gaultier’s collection dedicated to Amy Winehouse backfired when Amy’s father, Mitch, expressed his anger because he wasn’t consulted about the collection before it was showcased. He called the collection of modles dressed in Amy Winehouse's image a “rip-off” and “in poor taste”. He said that seeing her image commercialized was an unexpected wrench. It annoyed him even more that the designer didn’t even make a donation to the Amy Winehouse foundation.
