Moomin - The Story About You 15/09/2011 (Smallville)

One of the most interesting releases in house music this year on one of the house music's most exciting record labels of recent years...
The record company branch of Julius Steinhoff and Lawrence’s Hamburg record store Smallville has built quite an impressive back catalogue for itself since it was established in 2006. Irrespective of the status of its founding members, the label can boast releases from Christopher Rau, Benjamin Brunn and Move D. As if this wasn’t enough it has also played host to some of deep house’s most recent and exciting collaborations. With the likes of Smallpeople, Bon & Rau and Move D & Benjamin on their roster the label has provided a platform for collaborative exploration in and around the deep house sound. This should have everyone excited if for no other reason than that the collaborators are bookable together for DJ sets and the label's influence does not end there. Their most recent signing - Moomin, real name Sebastian Genz, is very much in line the labels forward thinking ideology. Check out his new album Story About You, which is set to be a smash hit of the modern deep house revival akin to John Roberts’ Glass Eights.
