Industry critics slate Kanye West’s fashion debut after Paris Fashion Week.
‘Dw Kanye West’ did not go down well with critics, many slated the line and one fashion blogger even posted: ‘Good thing Kanye has a day job... The only thing more painful than witnessing the dress was watching the model pitch down the runway in shoes so ill fitting that her spike heels were bending at angles.’
Weirdly fur featured heavily in the Spring collection, as well as lots of leather and slashed bondage style dresses. Apparently a team of ‘ghost’ designers helped Kanye with the designs, so maybe he’s not entirely to blame, although we imagine he had the final say, as usual.
And as is custom for Kanye, he hit back at the critics in full force: 'We don’t know what the reviews will be, we don’t know what they will say, but I got a chance to go to Italy and feel those fabrics... I took out motherf***ing loans to get the best models, to get the best designers, to get the best venue. I gave you everything that I had. This is my first collection. Please be easy. Please give me a chance to grow. This is not some celebrity s***. I don’t f*** with celebrities. I f*** with the creative’s in this room, the amazing people who spend every day of their life trying to make the world a more beautiful place.
'The amount of people that tried to get me a celebrity f***ing deal. They said, ‘You need to do boot-cut jeans, or you won’t sell.’ Shut the f*** up… I can only grow from this point.'
The designs were dedicated to Kanye’s late mother Donda, who died in 2007, very sweet Kanye.
