UK to Host World’s Biggest International Wine & Food Festival

7 – 10 June 2012 Kings Meadow, Reading

2012 will see the launch of the world’s biggest ever international consumer Wine & Food Festival.

Celebrating the best of world wines, food and culture, The Big Wine Festival is a family-friendly event that will take place over four days from 7-10th June 2012, just after the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.  It will be the biggest UK consumer event in 2012 next to the Olympics and it is set to attract 120,000 people. Set in beautiful river fronted parkland at Kings Meadow in Reading, the location offers easy access from railway networks around the country.

With a view to make wine really accessible to everyone and, as the name suggests, at the very heart of this festival will be a huge ‘World of Wine’ area that will showcase the greatest variety of wine ever to be enjoyed in one place.

The festival will be a great day out for everyone with a fantastic variety of onsite food stalls and restaurants, interactive education zones, a vast line-up of live music, comedy and cultural performances and a Family Village for younger children and teenagers.

The festival will also deliver the first end-to-end cashless technology, ensuring a safe, interactive and effortless festival environment for consumers. Entry tickets will simply be a wristband that will work like an Oyster Card, where you can just touch in. The wrist band will also act as convenient currency, allowing consumers to easily load-up money so, rather than carrying cash around, they can simply ‘touch-in’ to pay all retailers within the festival grounds. After the event, consumers will also be able to have any balance on the band refunded.

VIP tickets are also available that will grant people access into the VIP Village, an area showcasing fine dining restaurants and serving  5 course, wine matched meals prepared by Michelin Star chefs. A spectacular floating Pavilion will also form part of this area.

Every detail of the Big Wine Festival has been carefully considered. The design and layout of the festival will be truly spectacular. Visually, every zone will be beautifully themed and there will be huge covered areas, walkways and enclosed structures in the event of rain, and air conditioning in the event of hot weather.
