After the UKIP website went down earlier today, Alcopop Records revealed this morning that they paid £200 to aqcuire UKIP's website only to have their payment overturned by GoDaddy, the company in charge of the UKIP.org domain. The label confirmed their purchase on Facebook with a picture of the receipt, but it appears someone at UKIP has stepped in to block the payment.
Alcopop Records later released this statement alongside the picture: "Sorry guys - the internet has let us down. This morning we legitimately purchased the UKIP website for £200 (confirmation here). However, Go Daddy seem to have given it back to them (no sign of a refund yet). Genuinely gutted. We'll be back Farage...."
Here's hoping the Oxford label get that refund, meanwhile we can all lament the loss of what might've been.
