Merry Christmas From Circus Records
Thursday 11th December 2014 | Nick
Circus Records. Founded by Flux Pavillion and Doctor P, the internationally recognised DJ’s and producers, home to many other huge signings such as Cookie Monsta, Funtcase, Datsik, Dillon Francis, Doctor P and so many more, throw a huge early Christmas party at Ministry of Sound on the 13th December.
If you remember back in 2013 when Circus Records hit Koko in Camden, a night to remember is
an understatement and with an almost identical line up this time, it's looking set to surpass the brilliance of last year.
First of all get familiar with just how crazy these nights are. Take a look at this video from Koko in Camden last year as FuntCase, Flux and Doctor P absolutely ruin the recepticles formerly known as ear drums.
FuntCase, formerly known as DJ Dose, is a dubstep / drum and bass producer currently signed to Circus Records, his signature ‘filthy noises’ according to his peers are what sets him aside from other producers. The alias FuntCase came in late 2009 as he started to dip into producing dubstep. After collaborating with Doctor P, he quickly became heavily involved with Circus Records.
Listen here to one of his stellar radio mixes:
Alongside FuntCase will be Cookie Monsta, otherwise known as Tony Cook, a Nottingham born producer and DJ, who is oh-so-responsible for that face-melting, ground-shaking dubstep. After playing his high school leaving do, his interest in music spiked and with productions heavily influenced by Rusko, he quickly attracted attention from the big boss of Circus Records, Flux Pavilion. You should definitely consider making this set a priority.
What better way to explain than listening to a set that was mixed by both of them?!
FuntCase & Cookie Monsta's Mix
Shaun Brockhurst, a true musician with his ideas of making bass-driven, heavy yet energetic dubstep, also largely influenced by hearing Rusko’s creations. He began to produce drum and bass professionally in 2007 with the odd release until he posted his newest track to date on his MySpace. (Yes, that is how long ago this was!) ‘Sweet Shop’ went viral, it was hard to find a set from any DJ not including this. This was one of the very first releases on Circus Records, helping the label to establish it's now legendary reputation and helping Shaun invent Doctor P. I'm sure you will all recognise this song.
The only thing possible to overshadow this so far just happens to be the man himself, Flux Pavilion. EDM and dubstep fan base have labeled him 'the man with the synth', a nickname gained as a result of the producer's ability to create a track from any kind of synth or noise: the sign of a producer at his finest. With extremely well known songs like 'I Can't Stop', 'Bass Cannon' and his remix of 'Cracks' featuring Belle Humble, this guy knows how to get his rave on for sure.
His most recent release the EP Freeway sees remixes by his friends like Kill the Noise, Laxx, The Prototypes and himself for a perfect example of what he is all about.
