Guestlist Recommends: Earl 16

Reggae | Friday 6th December 2013 | Noam

Earl John Daley, known as Earl 16/sixteen, grew up in Kingston. He is what we call a proper rootsman.  Starting his career in the 1970s, the golden age of reggae music, he worked with the great producers of his time: Joe Gibbs, Lee Perry, Linval Thompson, Augustus Pablo and many others.

He recently played at the Hootananny, in Brixton and has a gig with the mighty Mad Professor in France on December 8th. His musical flexibility and versatility, as well as an agreeable deep voice, have enabled him to follow the winds of change within the genre and keep on producing some great tunes throughout the decades.

From tunes like The Peaceful Rastaman in his early days, to Rise Up Steppers on Roots Youth Records; Earl 16 never gave up on good reggae music, regardless of its format and style. A truly amazing reggae artist. If you have not heard any of his music, I highly recommend you  to do so as of, immediately.
