In a few months these guys have come a long way. The Royal sounds family is a vibrant, talented young band that will get you skanking to some soulful roots in not time. ‘It was meant to be’ they kept repeating. Indeed, their positive vibrations and musical alchemy seem to tell that same story.
Regardless of a few minor sounds issues, the limited time they were given and a semi-enthusiastic crowd, they remained calm and professional and kept the good vibes going, delivering an enjoyable mix of downbeat and upbeat rockers.
A bit of a Gregory feel (Ras Sempah), some Jah Mason rumbling stylin’ (Hannibal) and a lively Raspect Fyahbingi, alongside a solid rhythmic session and some tasty guitar riffs/solos; the royal sounds family offered quite an array of harmoniously combined reggae subgenres. Overall, a good show, and especially a very promising young band that should be followed closely.
