Versatile Musician Dre Island Is a Reggae All Rounder

Reggae | Wednesday 8th March 2017 | Tali

Modern reggae star Dre Island uses his early musical experiences and talent to create positive vibes and vibrant music that brings joy and inspires.

As a trained pianist, Dre sung with his local church choir and had music lessons from a young age but being introduced to a recording studio at 11 years old blossomed his love of making beats and producing music.

His hard and powerful vocals were first introduced in 2008 when Dre transitioned from just producing music to becoming a recording artist. But it was in 2010 when he made a cameo appearance with famous dancehall DJ Ding Dong at the Shaggy and Friends show that helped him to gain notoriety as well as a spot on popular Jamaican Summer Festival Reggae Sumfest.

In 2013, the artist dropped his first EP, Rastafari Way, a six track collection of music that celebrates his belief in the Rastafarian culture which was produced by King-I-Vier.

Still producing most of his music, his latest release with Jamaican musician Popcaan, We Pray is an easy listening, uplifting track about survival and triumph.
