Data 3 coming through with fresh EP in October Drum and Bass | Friday 21st September 2018 | Tom drum and bass data3 FLEXOUTAUDIO With releases coming from a diverse selection of artists including Philth, Chromatic, Amoss, Monty and Survey to name but a few since its inception back in 2011, Flexout Audio is a brand that is becoming synonymous with quality drum and bass music. The labels latest excursion into the well loved realm of drum and bass comes in the form of Data 3’s “Tyrant EP”. This latest escapade, brimming with sonic wonder, does nothing but aid their ever growing reputation. With the Yorkshire trio having previously released records on Shogun Audio, Subtitles, Addictive Behaviour and Skankandbass, you know this is going to be an EP well worth checking out if you are a devotee of the more technical side of the scene. The solemn intro stabs and tense atmosphere of opener and title track “Tyrant” give way to a distorted bass line and tight skipping drums that confidently guide you through the first chapter of our Data 3 led sonic journey. The next track, “Broken”, is a collaboration with Bristol and Leeds based duo Koherent. Its eerie vocals and haunting soundscapes lead into a truly deep bassline punctuated by luscious chords that will keep your head nodding throughout.“Fractil” is a lighter affair. Its trancy, hands in the air style breakdown steers us towards a plucky bass coupled with gyrating percussion that makes for a suitably cosmic ride. The smooth brass horns and stirring vocal scores of emotive roller “Losing Myself” make for a notably stylish finale to this capsulating mini voyage. This is most definitely an EP worthy of investment from any Drum and Bass fan locked into the more technical side of the scene this autumn. Both Data 3 and Koherent are without a shadow of a doubt both worth keeping a close ear to the ground for over the coming months. The 'TYRANT' EP is out on Flexout Audio on 14/09/18, pre-order it here DATA 3 - Soundcloud
