Hailing from Germany, SHDW & Obscure Shape are techno’s next big thing.
They began with throwing parties in their hometown, Stuttgart back in 2014. From Another Mind smashed it for a year before the pair decided to turn their event into a label as well. Taking the vibes from their dance floor and putting them into records was no easy feat, though when they released the acclaimed Nachtblende EP it was clear that they had succeeded with their aims.
Following their quiet early successes, it weren’t long before their production skills were called upon. In 2016 they remixed Radio Slave’s ‘Vision’ and swiftly followed that up with a killer mix of Envoy’s classic ‘Dark Manoeuvres’. Heavy bass drums and rolling percussions make their sound a murderous tool for any techno DJ and seen their tunes become firm favourites on the floors.
They rounded off 2017 with potentially their best work yet, the Himmel Und Erde EP and followed it up with another a mad heavy remix of Radio Slave’s ‘Grindhouse’ at the start of February. Drawing influence from diverse sources from uplifting trance to trippy acid, SHDW & Obscure Shape take the classic techno formula and twist it up into something special. The groundwork is done, expect huge things from them this year.
