Facebook to develop algorithms that 'will identify terrorists'

Other | Monday 20th February 2017 | Idrees

Mark Zuckerberg, founder of the infamous social media platform Facebook, has outlined a plan for new artificial intelligence software to review content posted on the site.

Zuckerberg released a letter of the plan, in which he stated that algorithms would eventually be able to spot terrorism, violence, bullying and even hopefully prevent suicide.

As time goes on, the cybernetic world has proven to be a dangerous place, yet we have not really seen any full-blown solutions to these issues that affect people every day.

Zuckerberg has even admitted that Facebook has made previous mistakes in the content it had removed from the website, but he stated that it would take years for the necessary algorithms to be developed.

We can hope that this announcement will welcome a well desired sigh of relief, for internet safety, as we know that this is an issue that we cannot ignore. Let us hope this is the first step to a safer future online.
