London Fashion Week Goes Green

Other | Tuesday 14th February 2017 | Terje

One of the big talking points of this highly consumption-encouraging event, is believe it or not – tote bags.

The official 'tote bag' is being designed by the one and only Vivienne Westwood. Known for her bold and fierce fashion designs, Westwood is also a strong advocate for the environment.

Her tote bags will feature NASA’s projection of the effect of climate change on the world, if the earth’s temperature should rise by 5 degrees. The designer is promoting Green Energy to make people change their consumption habits and make more eco-friendly fashion choices.

The tote bags will be available to purchase at London Fashion Week for £20, and 50% of the profit will go to Fuel Poverty Action, which is Westwood’s chosen charity.

This year the show will take place from the 17th to the 21st of February making it the 65th London Fashion Week so far. This year the event has once again changed its location, now taking place at The Store Studios at 180 Strand, WC2.

As usual there will be well known names such as Burberry, Maison Margiela, Ashish, Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Kane and Mulberry. But you should also keep your eyes peeled for emerging stars such as Michael Halpern and Richard Malone are 'One-To-Watch' designers.
